Created in 1998 by the World Kindness Movement, a conglomeration of kindness organizations around the world, this unofficial holiday encourages people to be kind to each other and spread happiness, joy and peace through kindness.
Considered to be a virtue, and valued in most societies and religions as an important quality, kindness is the act of being considerate, compassionate and empathetic towards other people and living beings.
How to Celebrate?
- Be kind and do random acts of kindness.
- Smile at strangers and do kind things for them. Give up your seat on the bus to someone else. Buy someone’s coffee for them. Volunteer your time at the local soup kitchen. Leave a kind note for someone.
- Kindness should not only be reserved for our fellow human beings. Be kind to the animals and to the environment as well.
- If you have children in your life, teach them the virtue of kindness by practising it in your daily life.
What the world needs now is
Love sweet Love
Not just below
But from above
Love is all you need
Love is all you need
We all feel pain
We all can bleed
Your love keeps
lifting me higher
You love is a burning
hot Desire
Make love not war
The greatest love of all
Tainted Love
The writings on the wall
If you love someone set
them free
Lover lover come back
to me.
- Five acts of kindness in a week will increase your happiness for up to three months.
- The effects of kindness can be so great you don’t have to be directly linked to a giving chain to get in on the act. By simply witnessing generosity you may be inspired to do something generous of your own, according to new research study.
- Kindness can be taught. A researcher from the University of Wisconsin says, “It’s kind of like weight training. We found that people can actually build up their compassion ‘muscle’ and respond to others’ suffering with care and a desire to help.”
- Helping others protects overall health twice as much as aspirin protects against heart disease!
- People 55 and older who volunteer for two or more organizations have an impressive 44% lower likelihood of dying. That’s after sifting out every other contributing factor, including physical health, exercise, gender, habits like smoking, marital status and many more. This is a stronger effect than exercising four times a week.
The Danish for ‘mullet’ is Bundesligahår, meaning ‘the hair of a German football player’.
