(Goodbye Ruby) Tuesday !!
Hi all its day 4 of 30 poems in 30 days...
Today is the turn of Joyful Jules Larvan...
Her poem is about the scourge of sleep that regularly
effects 1 in 3 of us at some time....
INSOMNIA
Oh the night, the night, is it friend or foe?I need you sleep my friend, please don't goYou see the darkness, it tries to devour meWith each second on the clock Tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tock
So loud and annoying, as each sound echoes in my mindPlease sleep don't leave me, don't be so unkindI remember that the night use to be my friendWhen I would dance from dusk till dawn, hoping the night would never end
But now that is a distant memory locked deep inside my headAs I lay here tossing and turning in my king sized bedMy body screams at me, So tired, so tired.. sooo friggin tired and I can't take any more painAll I want is to fall back to sleep again
But my mind thinks that it is in a raceSo hyper and into overdrive That's when Insomnia shouts as loud as can beI'm alive, I'm alive, I'm alive.. buzzing around like a bee
Ouch my bed feels like a lumpy rockThe princess and the pea folk tale comes into my headMaybe it's me that is so heavy and lumpy as as can be and not my bedCome back sleep, please I really need you
I didn't mean to get crossNow I understand that you really are simply the bossHow I wish I could wonder in dreams a newInstead I just lay here feeling cranky and blue
I am so tired of waking up in painThen not being able to fall back to sleep again!
Thanks Jules for sharing with us how insomnia makes you feel.
