Just Another Manic Monday ?

Hi all, well its day 3 !

Today's writer is Marvellous Marjorie Lacy.
A lovely poem about one of her loves :-

The Donkey Called Rosie.

At thirteen weeks old she is pretty,
she is brown, white markings. on her head.
The liquid brown eyes are enormous,
like those of a Disney film character.

Bluebell, is her mother, an old lady,
knowing, Rosie will be her last foal.
unlike Rosie, Bluebell colouring
is grey, with black flecks, she is
bigger than average donkey.

They share the same gentle ways of
tolerance and patience, after being
Abused and traumatised. Bluebell,
arrived at the Sanctuary pregnant,

There she found help and kindness, she
relaxed and recovered, after giving birth
to the most beautiful foal, she is happy,
Now, feeling that, her work is done.

I first met Rosie when she was a week old.
she was the size of a large dog, as soft
as a teddy bear, even then willing to meet
me, the stranger, who held out a hand to her.

I spoke to Bluebell and stroked her telling
her how ‘proud I was of her achievement’.
then, gently  I approached her baby,
Rosie’s gentle breath on my hand created
a bond that I unexpectedly felt with her,

That bond draws me back to the Sanctuary,
to visit the precious pair. They are able now,
to spend time in the field, Rosie so excited,
proud of her ability to run, kick her heels and
whirl around, running rings around her mother.
