Behaving Badly By Lynda McCraight

Me Behaving Badly

When I get old,
I won’t do as I’m told,
I’ll enjoy doing just as I wish.
I’ll wear bright pink with gold,
As a combo - quite bold -
And if anyone tuts, I’ll say “Pish.”

I’ll get rid of all rules
That  remind me of schools.
They hold no interest at all for me now.
I’ll attend the U3A,
Join a new group every day.
“No more teaching: just learning,” I’ll vow.

I’ll have the TV on loud,
And feel really quite proud
If my neighbour bangs on the wall.
I’ve endured, from my room,
His F1 and Boom! Boom! Boom!
And his conquests – I’ve witnessed them all.

I’ll recall my Lonely Hearts
Most of whom were just false starts,
And conclude I am best on my own.
I’ll sit recounting all those blokes
And how I laughed at all their jokes,
Smile, then continue  living alone.

When out in the garden,
I’ll provoke just like Bin Laden,
With my skirt tucked into my knickers.
I’ll consistently blow gum,
Show the neighbours my pert bum,
And put a strain on all of their tickers.

All through the day,
I’ll sing, “Take my breath away,”
And burp - or worse – as I please.
I’ll forget to iron clothes
Or change my panty hose,
And I’ll pick my nose with ease.

I’ll go to bed when I choose.
I’ll wear old ladies shoes,
Mainly to fit round the bunion.
I shall eat when I want -
With no one to say “Don’t” -
Cheese sarnies with lots of raw onion.

When I wake at 4.30
I won’t even get shirty
I’ll just read the next page of my book,
Or produce a new poem,
Or play Leonard Cohen,

And frankly just not give a duck!

Question Impossible

Here is a quiz question, it's pretty hard, in fact, almost impossible.....can you answer it ?

Can you name the worlds oldest continuing operational school in the world ?
Answer below.....

10 Reasons Why Being a Teacher is Great
(source the Metro)

Hanging out with children all day keeps you young and ensures that your vocabulary, fashion and music tastes remain current and relevant.

You make a massive difference in the lives of young people – even when you don’t even realise it. You might not know how many kids have taken your words of wisdom to heart and will go on to repeat them to their own children or even their own classes – but it’s more than you think.

You are constantly learning new skills. You came in this job to teach maths, science or English. You now also run clubs, referee sports days, break up fights, do counselling and have learned an impressive array of arts and crafts for those pesky off-timetable days.

No day is ever the same. Ever.

You build positive relationships with students, colleagues, parents and the wider community.

You become a role model. People look to you for advice and guidance and that feels pretty good.

The children teach you as much as you teach them. Every teacher has had that moment where an innocent comment from a pupil has seriously hit home and changed their perspective. Also, you now know all the members of One Direction.

here is constant laughter. Learning can – and is – fun and that goes for the teacher too. These groups of kids you have grown fond of truly have bants.

The sheer chaos of a classroom. Noise, mess, laughter, excitement and pandemonium. What isn’t there to love?

Watching friendships blossom between children always warms your heart.

Seeing excitement in children thrilled by a topic makes your day worthwhile. If you can blow a mind now and again, you will constantly be a source of interest. In fact, you are the life and soul of the party in the classroom.

By the way.....did you count, there's 11....if you didn't spot it, you need a teacher.....

Question Impossible

Earlier I asked .....
Can you name the worlds oldest continuing operational school in the world ?

The answer is - The King's School is a selective British school in the English city of Canterbury in Kent. It is held to be the oldest continuously operating school in the world, having been founded in 597 AD

Finish with a Song

Ooooh how can I not pick this song, this is Pink Floyd, Another Brick in the Wall, released in 1979.
