Thor
source primaryfacts.com
Thor is an Aesir god (a warrior god) and he is the son of the ruler of the gods, Odin.
Thor is associated with many things. He is well-known for being linked to thunder, lightning, storms and strength, but he was also known as the protector of mankind and partly responsible for healing, fertility and law and order.
Thor has over ten different names in Norse mythology.
He was married to goddess Sif.
Thor is often described as having fierce eyes and red hair.
Thor loved fighting – using his war hammer, Mjollnir, a magical belt that made him twice as strong, and iron gauntlets.
He also enjoyed feasting and drinking.
Thor had many adventures. He was the greatest enemy of the Giants, and he overcame the mighty serpent, Jormungand.
Thor rode a huge chariot pulled by two massive goats.
Many Vikings wore hammer-shaped amulet and pendants. These were to show that the wearer was a follower of the Norse pagan faith and rejected the coming of Christianity.

I am Thor
I am Thor – Protector of Mankind.
I wield my hammer, my enemies to grind.
My armour can be heard as I stride the firmament.
First it chatters, then it clatters, but it’s never
permanent.
I ride atop my chariot, pulled by goats not horses -
Goats are fleet of foot and follow unpredicted
courses.
You will hear me in the distance, next I’ll be
overhead,
Carving up the ozone - you’ll wish that you were
dead.
I start with a mumble, then a grumble and a rumble,
Always triumphant – never ever humble.
I take up my shield with a flourish, then a clash,
As across the heavens I flash and mash and slash.
I light up the sky like the Aurora Borealis.
When it comes to displays – man – I’m on the A List!
I can give you greens and browns and ochres,
Navies and mauves, truly hocus-pocus.
I can feel the testosterone coursing round my head.
First a rustle, then a tussle, then my fists they
turn to lead.
I hurl all the clouds around, proud to show my
might.
The air above is heavy and reeking of cordite.
I pummel the sky, tight against the earth.
I squeeze the globe and pinch its girth.
Through tunnels of trees
I crack and hack and thwack,
And then, feeling satisfied, on the earth I turn my
back.
You’ll hear me recede just as fast as I began.
The trees return to normal and so too does man.
Doors and windows are thrown open and life begins again,
And the only sign I’ve been here is the sweet scent
of rain.
