Friday and Happy International "No Pants Day" !

Don't panic my UK readers, the "pants" mentioned is the American word for "trousers"

No Pants Day is an unofficial holiday that occurs on the first Friday of May. Celebrated mostly in the United States, it calls for people to spend th day without wearing pants in public. They are encouraged to act as if not wearing pants is a normal thing to do.

How to Celebrate

Spend the day wearing no pants.

Appear in public without your trousers on. I suppose this is probably easier for women than men.
Men, why not wear a kilt !!

So why do Americans call trousers pants, the most common theory is that, pants, has one syllable so is quicker to say !!??

So where does the word pants come from ? Pants is derived from the term pantaloons, which in turn comes from pantaloun, an Italian term used to describe a man who wears tight trousers? Pantaloun in turn came from the name of San Pantaleone, a Christian saint, who survived 6 execution attempts. San Pantaleone meant all lion and later the term came to be used to refer to a foolishly brave person represented in comedy as someone wearing tight trousers.

I love my trousers
I love my pants
They keep my legs warm
when I dance

They hide my knees
and varicose veins
my sexy undies
and various stains

So I will give today a
pass
I'll keep my pants to hide my
ass.
