May the 4th be with you !!

Happy Star Wars Day !!

My claim to fame, when it comes to Star Wars, is that on the 27 December 1977 I was interviewed by the local media as my friends and I had camped all night outside the Odeon Cinema to be the first in our city to see the film.

We risked hypothermia and the scorn of passers by to be, for once, the cool kids !! Once in, we stayed all day, and saw he film about 4 times in a row.

Now, I have a slight confession........I prefer Star Trek !!!.....

Geeky Facts About Star Wars :-

The Star Wars films are said to have been inspired by Akira Kurosawa’s films Yojimbo and The Hidden Fortress.

The name Jedi is said to have come from “Jidai Geki” (“period dramas”) which was the name given in Japan to films about samurai.

Alec Guinness who played Obi-Wan Kenobi, is an anagram of “genuine class”.

George Lucas’s birthday is not May 4 but May 14. Star Wars films have always been launched in the week after that date.

In The Phantom Menace Yoda has three toes. But in three later films he has four.

Commemorative Star Wars coins became legal tender on the Pacific island of Niue in 2011.

The phrase “I have a (very) bad feeling about this” is spoken in every Star Wars film.

The name of R2-D2 was taken from the parlance of sound men in the film industry. It means the second reel of the second dialogue track.

The design of the Millennium Falcon spacecraft was based on a hamburger.

Yoda’s face (and particularly his eyes) are said to have been modelled on Albert Einstein’s.
